Blog Reflection

This semester I am enrolled in a course entitled "The Fundamentals of Computer Networking, Cloud Based Technology, and Internet Safety" with Dr. Jean-Charles.  Your grade is made up of assignments and projects.

Six assignments were given throughout the semester as follows: 

Assignments: Total 5

  • Assignment #1: Computer  Purchase Plan  
    • Assignment #2: Network Purchase Plan
    • Assignment #3: Cloud Services & Platform Plan
    • Assignment #4: Wireless and Mobile Device Plan
    • Assignment #5 (Given as a freebie)

    Three projects were assigned.  These projects include the following.

    • Project #1: Network Solution Plan Project 

    • Project #2: Internet of Things & Cloud Solutions Plan Project 

    • Project #3: Internet Safety and Penetration Testing Project

    There are advantages and disadvantages to each.  They will be discussed briefly in this section.  They will all be covered here.

     Each of these questions will be answered in this section.

    Assignment #1: Computer Purchase Plan 

    Pros 

    Analytical Abilities: Performed analysis of products

    Cons 

    Active student engagement is beneficial.

    Conclusion: The content was thoroughly covered.

    Assignment #2: Network Purchase Plan 

    Pros 

    Analytical Abilities: Conducted cost–benefit analyses

     Critical Abilities: Enhances critical thinking.  The teacher supports student inquiry.

    Cons

    It covers a lot of details. 

    Conclusion:  Fosters an environment that supports creative learning 

    Assignment #3: Cloud Services & Platform Plan 

    Pros 

    Analytical Abilities: Evaluated products for the user

    Cons

    Redundant 

    Conclusion: Stimulates thinking and engagement

    Assignment #4: Wireless and Mobile Device Plan

     

    Pros 

    Organization: Well-organized and planned

    Cons

    Time Consuming: Wrote many pages; it was approximately 50 pages long.

    Conclusion:  Provides hands-on experience in the computer laboratory.

    Subject Knowledge: Enhanced knowledge of the subject area; stimulated interest in the subject



    Research: Stimulates research ideas



    Cons


    Lacks clarity



    Conclusion:  Encourages creativity.  

    Project #2: Internet of Things & Cloud Solutions Plan Project 

    Pros 

    Research: Encourages students to conduct research; actively engages the student in the learning process

     Application of Real Life Examples: Cisco Packet Tracer

     Cons 
    Lack of in-depth explanation

    Conclusion: Combines easy-to-understand instructions with visual examples.

    Project #3: Internet Safety and Penetration Testing Project 

    Pros 

    Application of Real Life Examples: Windows Security Center; VMware; Virtual Box

     Cons

    Time management

    Conclusion: The presentation was excellent.  

    Assignments:

    Most Favorite: Assignment #2: Wireless and Mobile Device Plan

    Reasons: It is an extensive approach to innovation.

    Least Favorite: Assignment #3: Network Purchase Plan 

    Reasons: Approach lacks flexibility

    Projects:

    Most Favorite: Project #2:     Internet of Things & Cloud Solutions Plan Project  

    Reasons: There is a lot of potential for research in this area.

    Least Favorite: Project #1: Network Solution Project

    Reasons: Ineffective technological solutions and methods
